Staircase & High Ceiling Crystal Chandeliers
A stairwell fixture is almost always a custom build. It is the one application where the standard catalogue drop is the wrong answer, and we would rather say that up front than sell you a size that arrives too short.
Why This Is a Custom Path
Our standard chandeliers are made in Ø60 cm and Ø80 cm, with an overall height of about 150 cm including the suspension. That is correct over a table or a seating group. A two-storey stairwell void is commonly 5 to 7 metres from the upper ceiling to the lower floor, and a fixture designed for 150 cm will look stranded in it.
So a stairwell piece is built to your dimensions: the frame count, the drop, the crystal cascade length and the mounting method are all decided from your measurements, not chosen from a size list. That is quoted as a custom build through our OEM/ODM route, and the specification is confirmed in writing before anything is made.
We do not list a stock staircase model, because we do not have one. Anyone who offers you a catalogue stairwell chandelier without asking for the void height is selling you a standard fixture with a longer chain.
What to Measure
Six numbers and one photograph are enough for us to come back with a real proposal.
- Total void height — from the ceiling where the fixture mounts down to the lowest floor it hangs over.
- Void width and depth — the open plan area of the stairwell, not the room.
- Floor-to-floor height for each storey the fixture passes.
- Mounting point — is it centred over the void, or offset toward a landing?
- Desired bottom height — where you want the lowest crystal to finish relative to the ground floor or the landing rail.
- Viewing positions — which floors and which landings the fixture is seen from.
A photograph taken from the ground floor looking up, and one from the top landing looking down, tells us more about proportion than any drawing. If you have architectural sections, send those instead.
Formats We Build for Stairwells
Each is built to your void dimensions. The design language comes from our standard ranges; the geometry does not.
Vertical cascade
A single continuous fall of crystal, read from every floor. Suits a narrow void with viewing positions on more than two levels. Length is set by your measurement, not by a size chart.
Staggered tiers
Two or three clusters set at different heights, sized so each landing gets a complete composition rather than the underside of the one above.
Branch column
Our branch silhouette extended vertically instead of spread horizontally. The organic form carries height better than a repeated round tier does.
Installation, Maintenance and Access
A stairwell fixture is harder to reach than any other light in a house, so the questions that matter are practical rather than aesthetic.
- Mounting load — a tall custom piece weighs more than a Ø80. We state the finished weight in the specification so your contractor can confirm the ceiling fixing before installation, not during it.
- Access for relamping — tell us whether scaffolding, a lift or a winch will be available. It affects how the fixture is divided and how the crystal is attached.
- Site assembly — tall pieces ship in sections and are assembled on site. Crystal is hand-hung on strings, so it is normal for the final cascade to be dressed after the frame is up.
- Spare crystals — worth agreeing in the same order rather than after a breakage. Quantities are set per project and written into the quotation.
Installation itself is carried out by your own contractor. We supply the fixture, the fixing specification and the assembly drawing; we do not install on site.
