Foyer Chandeliers

A foyer chandelier is the first thing guests see. Our foyer and entryway chandeliers range from compact Ø40 cm (16 in) designs for hallways to large Ø120 cm (47 in) single- and two-tier branch designs that fill a two-story foyer. Made in our own factory and sold direct, from $30. Check the size chart below to match the chandelier to your entry and ceiling height.

What size foyer chandelier do you need?

Start with the floor: add the length and width of the foyer in feet and use the total as the chandelier diameter in inches. Then look up — the higher the ceiling, the larger and longer the chandelier should be.

Your entryTypical size and ceilingRecommended chandelier
Hallway or small entryabout 6 × 8 ft, 8–9 ft ceilingØ40–50 cm (16–20 in)
Standard foyerabout 8 × 10 ft, 9–10 ft ceilingØ50–60 cm (20–24 in)
Large foyerabout 12 × 12 ft, 10–12 ft ceilingØ80–100 cm (31–39 in), or a Ø80 cm two-tier design
Two-story foyer16–20 ft ceilingØ100–120 cm (39–47 in) in a two-tier style, or our 200 cm tall F05 staircase chandelier

Our branch models come in six round sizes up to Ø120 cm; the two-tier designs shown here are Ø60 or Ø80 cm and the F05 staircase chandelier Ø80 × 200 cm as standard, and other sizes can be made to order in about 35 days. For room-by-room advice, see our chandelier size guide or use the size calculator.

Two-story foyers: how low to hang it

In a two-story foyer, keep the bottom of the chandelier at least 7 ft above the floor so it clears the front door and everyone walking in. Many homeowners center it in the upstairs window, so it can be seen from outside at night. Two-tier designs, with two layers of branches around a central stem, fill the height of the space better than a flat single-tier fixture.

Every chandelier comes with a 1.5 m (59 in) chain as standard. A large foyer chandelier often needs more: longer chains can be made to any length you need, as a custom option. For a double-height living room, see high ceiling chandeliers; for a stairwell, see staircase chandeliers.

Installing a large foyer chandelier

A large foyer chandelier is a two-person job and must hang from a fixing that can carry its weight. Every chandelier is weighed before shipping, and the weight is shown on your quotation and packing list, so your electrician can check the ceiling fixing in advance.

Our designers can prepare installation instructions and an installation plan for your space, as a paid service. We do not install on site — your local electrician fits the chandelier. Ask for the installation plan when you request a quote, or see custom crystal chandeliers.

Entryway and hallway lighting

Not every entry is two stories high. For a hallway or small entryway with an 8–9 ft ceiling, choose a Ø40–50 cm chandelier and keep at least 7 ft of clearance underneath; along a long hallway, two smaller chandeliers look better than one large one.

All of our entryway light fixtures use standard screw-in bulbs — E14, or E12 on the 120V US version — up to 85W per socket, with bulbs not included. Warm white 2700–3000K light makes an entry feel welcoming; a three-color option (3000K, 4500K and 6000K) is available, and we do not supply a dimmer. Frames come in gold (aluminum with an anodized finish), chrome or black. For more styles, see branch chandeliers or all crystal chandeliers.

Foyer chandelier FAQ

What size chandelier do I need for my foyer?

Add the length and width of the foyer in feet and use the total as the diameter in inches — a 12 × 12 ft foyer needs about 24 in. If the ceiling is higher than 10 ft, go one size up; a two-story foyer usually needs Ø100–120 cm. Send us your foyer size and ceiling height and we will recommend a model.

How low should a chandelier hang in a two-story foyer?

Keep at least 7 ft between the floor and the bottom of the chandelier. Many people center it in the upstairs window. Every chandelier comes with a 1.5 m (59 in) chain, and longer chains can be made to any length you need as a custom option.

Can you help me install a large foyer chandelier?

Our designers can prepare installation instructions and an installation plan for your space, as a paid service. We do not install on site; your local electrician fits the chandelier and should check that the ceiling fixing can carry its weight.

Can I change the color, chain length or size of a standard model?

Yes. Frame color, crystal color, size, chain length and color temperature can all be adjusted. A modified model costs a little more than the standard one because we make the parts to order; custom sizes take about 35 days.

How heavy is a foyer chandelier?

It depends on the size and the crystals you choose. Every chandelier is weighed before shipping, and the weight is shown on your quotation and packing list.
