One of the most common questions we receive from interior designers and wholesale buyers at HongFU Lighting is: "What size branch chandelier do I need for this high-ceiling project?"
Getting the proportions right is crucial. A fixture that is too small will look lost in a grand lobby, while one that is too large can overwhelm the space. Here is our factory-approved guide to getting it perfect every time.
1. The Formula for Diameter
To determine the ideal diameter of your crystal branch chandelier, use this simple interior design industry standard:
- Measure the length and width of the room in feet.
- Add those two numbers together.
- The sum is the approximate diameter your chandelier should be in inches.
Example: If your hotel lobby is 20 feet by 30 feet (20 + 30 = 50), you should look for a chandelier with a diameter of approximately 50 inches (which is about our standard 1.2m or 1.5m bespoke sizing options).
2. Hanging Height for High Ceilings
For foyers and grand living rooms with high ceilings, the rule of thumb is to hang the chandelier so the bottom is at least 7 to 8 feet above the floor. If you have a two-story foyer, the chandelier should ideally align with the second floor so it looks balanced from both levels.
3. Why Customization Matters
Standard sizes don't always fit unique architectural spaces. That's where HongFU Lighting excels. Because we hand-weld all our aluminum frames, we can easily scale our branch designs from a modest 60cm up to a massive 2 meters in diameter directly from our China factory.
